As a believer and a mother, I find a lot of comfort in knowing that God is a God who sees and knows everything.  When I have a call from one of my children who is going through something difficult and I hear the distress in their voice, my heart breaks with the pain of wanting to be there and to comfort them.  But I love how God works, He quickly reminds me that He is there. He sees my child, He knows where they are, and He is near to them. There is not a place they can go that He is not near.  He fills my mind with the knowledge of WHO He is and that He is at work.  Psalms 139 is a wonderful chapter on God’s omnipresence and His omniscience. It is a powerful prayer to pray for your child, spouse,  or even yourself.

Psalms 34:15  The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and His ears are open to hear their cry.

Psalms 102:19-21  For He looked down from the height of His sanctuary, from heaven the LORD viewed the earth, To hear the groaning of the prisoner, to release those appointed to death, to declare the name of the LORD in Zion and His praise in Jerusalem.

Proverbs 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He watches all his paths.

Psalms 33: 13-15  The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men. From the place of His dwelling He looks on all the inhabitants of the earth; He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works.  v18  Behold the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

Matthew 6:31-33 “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’  For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, for  your Heavenly Father know that you need all these things. ‘But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Isaiah 65:24 It will come to pass that before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear.

Hebrews 4:13  Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

To know that God is Omniscient (Omni – All, Science – Knowledge – ALL KNOWING) and ALL Seeing can be a great comfort to a believer. To know that before we call He answers, while we are still speaking, He hears.  His ears are open to hear our cries. The God of the Universe listens for us!!

At the same time, for the unbeliever it can be a frightening thought. Nothing is hidden from God’s eyes.  Hebrews 4:13 says  NOTHING in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

He knows our every excuse, He sees right thru every pretense.  He knows our thoughts before we express them. He knows WHY we do what we do. He knows what we worry about. He knows what we take pleasure in.  He knows how you hurt. He knows how scared you are of “what might be”.  He knows what breaks your heart.   NOTHING surprises God!!

We waste a lot of energy trying to fool God, at least I know I have, but God is NOT fooled!  He knows me, through and through. And yet, He loves me.  Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrated His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” We don’t have to put on an act with God for Him to love us – He knows us at our very worst – and Loves Us unconditionally.  He knows, what He longs for us to know – we can do nothing on our own, but all things are possible through Christ.

Try Praying Psalms 139 and see for yourself the comfort that comes from knowing  the “God Who Sees You and Knows You”

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. Psalms 139:23-24
